Skills for Success is a modernized skills model released by Employment and Social Development Canada, which identifies the foundational skills all Canadians need to succeed at work and in daily life. The revised framework includes refreshed definitions of existing skills from the previous framework, while introducing new skills to capture the current and evolving needs of Canadian society, both in learning and working.
The project seeks to validate Skills for Success by piloting newly developed skills training and evaluations to Adult Canadians.
In partnership with Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC), Bow Valley College will evaluate participant data contribution to inform and validate Skills for Success. Data analysis will be conducted to understand the level of skills gained in training and evaluation access. Research findings will be reported back to national stakeholders to support the ongoing work to better equip Canadians for the workforce.
The skills training and evaluation developed out of this project will focus on 4 key skill areas within the new model. This includes: reading, writing, numeracy, and digital skills.
